At PROTEC Sp. z o.o. we consistently invest in quality, modern technologies and long-term relationships with our business partners. A natural step in our company’s development was the structuring and formalisation of our activities in the area of sustainable development through the implementation of the ESG approach (Environmental, Social, Governance).
ESG means for us not only regulatory requirements, but above all a practical tool for better management of our company’s impact on the environment, people and the business environment – including the requirements of the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG) and the EU regulation CBAM.
Double Materiality Analysis and Process Audit
The first step of our activities was conducting a double materiality analysis and an audit of key business processes in the company. This analysis allowed us to determine:
- which areas of PROTEC’s activities have the greatest impact on the environment, employees, local community and business partners,
- what challenges and risks related to sustainable development are most important for us from the perspective of further company development.
At this stage we cooperate with the company dESG from our region, which supports us in identifying priorities and structuring the ESG approach in a coherent and practical way.
Why is ESG important for us?
Identifying the most important topics from the conducted analysis gives us a real opportunity for:
- better management in the environmental area (including resource efficiency, energy consumption, environmental impact),
- strengthening social aspects (safety and development of employees, cooperation with the local community),
- further improvement of organisational governance and management (process transparency, responsible business decisions).
This allows us to better respond to the expectations of our customers, partners and employees, while building stable foundations for the long-term development of PROTEC.
Our Concrete Environmental Actions
In addition to the structural ESG implementation, we are already implementing concrete measures:
- Photovoltaic installation on the roof of our plant in Chróścice near Opole – renewable energy for production
- ISO 14001:2015 – certified environmental management system, issued by TÜV Rheinland
- Production in Poland – short supply chain, lower CO₂ emissions throughout the value chain
- LkSG and CBAM documentation available on request for customers from Germany and the EU
Next Steps – ESG Report and Strategy Integration
We are at the beginning of this journey. The next important step will be the preparation of a comprehensive ESG report that will present our goals, activities and indicators in the area of sustainable development in a structured way.
We also plan to integrate ESG activities into strategic company management – so that environmental, social and corporate governance issues become an integral part of business decisions, investments and cooperation with customers and suppliers.
