Description
The vent pipe cowl is a roof ventilation component installed on the roof pitch, with an outlet for a round pipe and a fixed, angled static cap that protects the ventilation duct from rain and snow without any moving parts. PROTEC manufactures it from copper, galvanized sheet steel, or titanium-zinc, made to order, in diameters FI 76, 80, 87, 100, 120, or 150 mm.
Application
The vent pipe cowl is used to terminate ventilation ducts, soil vent stacks, and central vacuum system pipes outside the building. Its angled static cap ensures continuous airflow and moisture removal from the duct, while preventing precipitation from entering. A correctly installed cowl reduces the risk of moisture condensation in the installation and improves indoor air quality.
Materials
The PROTEC vent pipe cowl is available in three materials, differing in durability, appearance, and ageing process.
- Copper – natural corrosion resistance, develops a protective patina over time
- Galvanized sheet steel – an economical option with good weather resistance
- Titanium-zinc – lightweight, can be powder-coated in the RAL colour range
The choice of material is matched to the type of roof covering and the desired aesthetic – the same approach as with other roof vents in our range.
Dimensions and manufacturing tolerances
The vent pipe cowl is made to order with an outlet for a round pipe, in six standard diameters, with manufacturing tolerance in line with ISO 2768.
| Diameter FI (mm) | Tolerance | Production |
|---|---|---|
| 76 | ISO 2768 | Made to order |
| 80 | ISO 2768 | Made to order |
| 87 | ISO 2768 | Made to order |
| 100 | ISO 2768 | Made to order |
| 120 | ISO 2768 | Made to order |
| 150 | ISO 2768 | Made to order |
For non-standard ventilation duct cross-sections, PROTEC manufactures the cowl to size according to the submitted parameters, with the base profiled for the specific roof covering, including metal roof tiles, trapezoidal sheet, or roofing felt.
